% Arabica, the Kyoto based Japanese specialty coffee brand, marks its inaugural presence in Phuket with a groundbreaking modular kiosk concept at Central Phuket Floresta. Crafted in collaboration with the award-winning Austria-based design firm Precht Studio, this avant-garde installation redefines the traditional coffee shop experience. Inspired by a coffee cup, the kiosk is round in shape and its doors are designed to rotate around the centre of the unit, and when the doors are closed a minimalist interpretation of the brand’s logo (%) is apparent.

A coffee shop brand on the move to success, Bartels has branches in Bangkok and Phuket. Opened in March 2024 this two-level café, restaurant and bakery specialises in sourdough bread, with a wide variety of open and closed sandwiches on the menu. They use organic beans from Ethiopia and Thailand in their house blended coffee, offering floral and chocolate notes. High quality, healthy and a great social hang-out spot.

HOCKHOELEE – THE ORIGINAL COFFEE ROASTER

This charming and well-loved business was started by Chinese immigrant Tan Cheng Long in 1958. As Thais started to grow coffee, and transportation was built bridging Phuket to other southern provinces, Hock Hoe Lee was able to buy Thai coffee beans to use for its coffee. Today their Classic Full City Roast house blend has a smooth, complex and bold flavour, made from 100% authentic Thai coffee bean. There is another branch of the café in Phuket Town, and they both offer one of the best breakfasts on the island.

Kata

Located opposite the Club Med Resort on Kata’s high street, this cute, well run coffee shop, is arranged on 2-levels and has a welcoming homely atmosphere. Furniture has been lime treated, giving a white-washed effect, and the brick walls have been painted white. Excellent western menu, with burgers a speciality. A Columbian blend of 50% robusta and 50% arabica semi-roasted beans is used in their coffee.
