    Patong’s Chic Seaside Escape

Most of Patong’s 3 kilometres of sand has a walkway and road running alongside it, preventing business development directly on the beach. There is however one section, just north of the famous Bangla Road, which has a small selection of lucky operators, and the chicest of these places is the KUDU Hotel & Beach Club

    By: Roger Osbourne

This is the main reason why Patong’s isn’t particularly known as a beach club destination in Phuket; there isn’t enough available beach to build them on. KUDU and FUGA (at the northern end of the beach) are the exceptions, but it is KUDU which has the choice location; right at the very middle of the Patong beach stretch, and opposite the thriving entertainment areas.

If you are looking for a quality place to stay, in the heart of the action, you will struggle to do better than KUDU. By some design genius they have managed to set the accommodation building, which houses 26 spacious bedrooms and suites, back from the main road and overlooking the sea. On my stay, and after 11 pm when the hotel’s beach club pool party had switched-off, I couldn’t hear any of the carnival atmosphere Patong is famous for, it was the peaceful sound of waves that rocked me to sleep.

The guest rooms at KUDU are boutique in design, each with a private balcony, kitchenette, a Jacuzzi and a plus king sized bed with excellent linens and pillows.

The Resort has a large oval shaped swimming pool at its heart, with spacious decking all around, supporting a variety of cabana’s and sun loungers. The onshore breeze generates perpetual motion on the deck as it catches and flutters the cabana drapes in its draft.

As a party place KUDU isn’t a thumping cacophony of house music, the beat is of a more seductive and sophisticated nature, a place to be seen chic and chilled. Diving into a KUDU pool party, allows you to savour exquisite dining, while enjoying enchanting performances from the comfort of a poolside cabana, and indulging in premium, full-service offerings.

With DJ’s spinning the grooviest tracks, live music, weekly parties, and thrilling performances, KUDO Beach Club offers non-stop entertainment! Move to the music, cool off in the pool or quench your thirst at the swim-up-bar – KUDO keeps the vibe cool and the energy nicely controlled!

When I was there I wished I had reserved a cabana, they are very popular. A cabana booking comes with a variety of affordable F&B packages – or alternatively, which is what I had to do,  simply grab a table and join in on the fun. Party with KUDO Beach Club – Island style!

KUDO offers an exciting itinerary of parties, performances and events happening every week. Let your crazies out at the monthly full moon parties, and release your inner child during the live foam sessions, both fun to do and amusing as a spectator sport!

As a place to eat, KUDU is so popular, you should book a table rather than chance-it by just turning up. The main hotel restaurant sits right on the beach and offers an eclectic international and Thai menu.

The restaurant is open throughout the day, available for breakfast, lunch, dinner & even a late night snack! With a special menu crafted by renowned Thai IronChef winner, Chef Tammasak, each dish is a culinary wonder. Chef’s versatile menu showcases his love for global cuisine while paying homage to his home kitchen favourites that Thai cuisine is so famous for. For a lighter meal you can indulge in some delicious wood-fired-pizzas, mouthwatering pasta dishes and crunchy salads! The restaurant closes at 10:30 pm, with pizzas being served up to 11:30 pm.

Chef Tammasak is a Phuket culinary icon. In addition to being the creative mastermind behind the cuisine at KUDU, he splits his time between Patong, Cherngtalay and Surin where he is the owner of a Michelin plate restaurant, Suay, and a consultant Chef at Twinpalms Phuket.

He is a busy man, because, in addition to his fine dining operations he is the owner of a delightful network of bistro style cafes, operating under the Daily Dose brand. There are four of them on the island and one happens to be at KUDU. Just before you enter the pool area you walk through the Daily Dose, a very casual thoroughfare which doubles as a coffee shop and patisserie. Particularly known for its delicious all-day breakfasts, coffee and assortment of fresh breads, Daily Dose offers small bites to filling snacks, high protein breakfasts to refreshing smoothie bowls…a modern day cafe for health conscious people on the move.

So, on your next visit to Patong don’t give KUDU a miss. Whether you want only to sip a coffee in the Daily Dose, to enjoy the beach club during the day, partying after dark, or perhaps an overnight stay, this resort offers a perfect blend of relaxation, luxury, and vibrant entertainment, making it one of Phuket’s most popular beachfront facilities. With its prime location, the stylish venue is a haven for those seeking to unwind by the sea, while enjoying top-notch amenities and a lively atmosphere.
