11th January is the Day to be Young
National Children’s Day in Thailand is known as ‘Wan Dek’, and is celebrated annually on the second Saturday of the new year, which in 2025 is 11th January. Although not a public holiday, in Phuket the day for kids is enthusiastically celebrated with a mix of fun activities, educational events and special privileges for kids across the island. Many attractions, such as museums, shopping malls, zoos and amusement parks offer lively activities, with in some cases free or discounted access to children. Government offices and military bases also open their doors, allowing kids to explore and participate in fun, educational experiences, including clambering over military equipment.
