Like all of us during COVID, Michael Weinstein found he had a lot of time on his hands. As a 25-year resident of Phuket, the pandemic gave him the opportunity to focus on two of his greatest passions: photography and anthropology. He spent hours capturing on camera some of Phuket’s indigenous populations, particularly those living in fishing communities. Here is a small sample of his work, focusing on the mood of an island during a difficult time.
