A galaxy of culinary experiences awaits you at DARA Cuisine Phuket. A one-of-a-kind venue that marries Thai gastronomy with the wonders of the cosmos

Nestled at the southern end of Phuket’s Tranquillity Coast, where Layan Beach merges with the Sirinat National Park, lies the boutique Anantara Layan Phuket Resort. This section of the coastline would be more aptly named the ‘Celestial Coast’ because it is here, at the Anantara, where you’ll find a unique dining concept: DARA Cuisine Phuket.

‘Unique’ because this restaurant not only allows you to explore the culinary delights of Thai cuisine, it also gives you access to the universe through state of the art telescopes housed in the restaurant’s upper Observatory Deck. Grazing turns to Gazing.
A Culinary Journey Rooted in Thai Heritage

At the heart of DARA Cuisine lies a profound respect for Thailand’s rich culinary traditions. The restaurant’s name, “DARA,” translates to “star” in Thai, symbolising its mission to shine a light on authentic Thai flavours while guiding guests on a gastronomic voyage. The menu is meticulously crafted, focusing on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients that celebrate the essence of Southern Thai cuisine. Grill-centric dishes take centre stage, allowing the natural flavours of the produce to be the protagonists of each plate.
Interactive Culinary Experiences

Beyond the exquisite dishes served during dinner, DARA Cuisine extends its culinary offerings through interactive cooking classes. Held daily from 12pm to 3pm, these sessions invite guests into the dynamic show kitchen, where high-energy chefs share their expertise and passion for Thai cooking. Participants have the opportunity to learn traditional techniques, understand the nuances of Thai flavours, and create their own culinary masterpieces. This hands-on experience not only deepens appreciation for Thai cuisine but also equips guests with skills to recreate authentic dishes at home.
Celestial Ambiance and Stargazing

As evening descends, DARA Cuisine transforms into a gateway to the stars. The restaurant’s Observatory Deck offers rooftop stargazing sessions, providing guests with an intimate connection to the night sky. State-of-the-art telescopes are available for use, allowing for detailed observations of celestial bodies. This fusion of dining and astronomy creates a multisensory experience that is both enlightening and enchanting. Craft cocktails, inspired by various constellations, complement the stargazing sessions, adding a cosmic twist to the evening’s libations.
Cosmic Culinary Collaborations
In its commitment to offering unique and elevated dining experiences, DARA Cuisine launched the “Cosmic Culinary Journey” series in December 2024. This initiative featured collaborations with Michelin-starred chefs from Bangkok, Hanoi, and Phuket, who joined forces with DARA’s resident culinary visionary, Chef Hong. Together, they curated exclusive six-course menus that blended diverse culinary philosophies while honouring Thai heritage.
Sustainable and Thoughtful Practices

DARA Cuisine’s pursuit of excellence extends beyond the plate. The restaurant places a strong emphasis on sustainability, partnering with eco-conscious local farms to source ingredients responsibly. An on-site fermentation kitchen allows for the creation of unique flavours while minimising waste. These practices ensure that each dish tells a story of environmental mindfulness and respect for the natural world. Additionally, the observatory’s design considers light pollution, preserving the integrity of the night sky for future generations.
A Sanctuary for the Senses
The ambiance at DARA Cuisine is meticulously curated to provide a sanctuary for all senses. The interior design reflects a contemporary aesthetic infused with Thai cultural elements, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Soft lighting, elegant décor, and the gentle hum of nature surrounding the resort contribute to a dining environment that is both luxurious and comfortable. Whether seated indoors or on the open-air deck, guests are enveloped in an ambiance that encourages relaxation and contemplation.
When to Visit

Such has been the popularity of Dara Cuisine that advanced reservation is a must. To join one of the daily cooking classes you’ll need to allocate 3-hours from midday to 3pm.
