The word ‘tote’ originates from the 17th century, meaning “to carry”. They first appeared in the 1940s, popularised by L.L. Bean’s sturdy Boat and Tote design for carrying ice. This example of a tote bag has been carefully selected for its striking fibre colour and transformed into a modern looking bag to continue the valuable contribution made by the Na Muen Sri community.
