When the strategists at Jim Thompson were planning the launch of their 2024 fashion collection the brief was to find a location that reflected the soul of Thailand. A quintessential, dare I say, ‘historical’ backdrop where the models could contrast the modern flair of silk clothing against a historical setting. Bangkok would probably work, maybe Chiang Mai or perhaps the ‘Pearl of the Andaman’, Phuket. No, none of these, although cases could be made for each, but they don’t come close to Ayutthaya for Siamese history. Ayutthaya was the powerful and prosperous capital of Siamese Kingdom between the 14th and 18th centuries, known as the ‘Kingdom of Ayutthaya’.
The name ‘Ayutthaya’ is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Ayodhya’, which means ‘invincible’ or ‘unconquerable’. A fitting location for Jim Thompson to bring their latest unbeatable silk fashion to the world.
The photo shoot you see showcases the beauty of the new line, against the dramatic red brick temples that make up the ancient and well preserved capital.

The FLORAL WRAP print is crafted through a meticulous process, wherein flower patterns are delicately printed onto warp threads before being woven. This technique serves as a template for printing, resulting in stunning floral motifs that adorn the fabric. The floral prints in this season’s collection are given a creative and contemporary twist, perfect for any occasion.
One of the standout features of the collection is the innovative pairing of floral patterns with stripes and solid colours. This bold contrast adds vibrancy to everyday outfits, elevating them to new heights of style and sophistication.
