    Gateway to Idyllic Serenity

Amanpuri is as inspiring today as it was when it opened three decades ago.

Space, intimacy and service are qualities shared by all Aman destinations – and this contemporary sanctuary is where the story began.

The timeless setting on a private peninsula overlooking the turquoise waters of Phuket’s west coast is in complete harmony with the meaning of its Sanskrit name – Place of Peace.

    A place of peace

Inspired by the grace of Thailand’s ancient capital Ayutthaya, this is a tranquil resort of just 40 pavilions and 44 villas, with sloping roof lines framing soothing, spacious interiors furnished with Thai textiles, art and antiques.

Set on hillsides overlooking the private white sand beach, or in lush gardens beneath soaring coconut palms, all pavilions and villas are imbued with the scent of jasmine blossoms and an air of calming charm.

Amid the placid ambience of beguiling Thai charisma, it’s easy to believe this alluring resort could have an historic presence here almost as deep-rooted as its very own Ayutthaya inspiration.

Celebrating just 30 years of existence in 2018, Amanpuri’s heritage may seem pale in comparison with other hotel brands in Thailand, yet it is one that is unmatched for single-minded devotion to excellence and exclusivity. Furthermore, Amanpuri has continued to keep up to speed with its discerning guests’ tastes and wishes.

Leading Aman’s culinary vision, with Regional Executive Chef Stefano Artosin at the helm, Amanpuri offers guests and non-residents the opportunity to experience Phuket’s abundance of natural produce in gastronomic fare from three different continents, as well as a wellness dining menu by renowned raw vegan chefs Ben Flowerday and Dean Gleeson.

The original Amanpuri dining experience is the Thai Restaurant, a celebrated fixture in Phuket, serving finely spiced dishes from central and southern Thailand overlooking the resort’s swimming pool. Here classic regional dishes such as Tom Yam, Pad Thai, a medley of Thai salads and fragrant Thai curries are crafted from locally sourced ingredients.

Amanpuri’s recently launched, Japanese restaurant Nama meaning raw in Japanese, offers exquisitely crafted sushi and sashimi at the heart of a menu celebrating washoku – literally translated from Japanese as the food of Japan. Under the guidance of Chef Keiji Matoba, ingredients include locally-sourced seafood, organic produce, and specialities imported from the markets of Osaka and Kyoto.

Overlooking the pool, with panoramic views of the Andaman Sea, resides Arva. Another new addition to Amanpuri’s culinary offerings, Arva celebrates the bold flavours and simple ingredients of Italy’s rich culinary heritage, embracing seasonal and sustainably sourced fare, a method employed for centuries in Italy.

Further dining options available for guests and non-residents include Amanpuri’s recently opened Latin American Lounge, inspired by the street food and spirits of Central and South America, where Mexican specialities such as crisp tostadas stuffed with blue crab and fresh salsa and adobe sauces can be enjoyed with handcrafted cocktails, such as Avocado and Cilantro Margaritas and Puri Pisco Sours.

The Beach Club offers informal dining by Amanpuri’s scallop-shaped private beach, where wood-fired pizzas and a vibrant array of grilled fish and meats are served up with fresh salads.

Lastly, Amanpuri offers a Wellness Menu, completely gluten and dairy free. The menu includes vegan and vegetarian options as well as dishes featuring fish and eggs. From kelp noodle salads to raw carpaccios, Thai-inspired vegan dishes to chocolate cashew cake with blueberries, walnut cream and more.

And inspired by the resort’s tranquil, beachside setting on the shores of the Andaman Sea, is Amanpuri’s extensive Aman Spa, ideal for those looking for a wellbeing overhaul. A sanctuary within a sanctuary where guests and non-residents can reflect upon and ultimately transform their wellbeing with expert guidance.

Since the 2016 launch of Aman Wellness, Amanpuri has spearheaded the brand’s all-encompassing holistic initiative, with the appointment of Dr Alison Stone as Director of Spa and Wellness and the introduction of innovative Individual Wellness Immersions, designed to promote profound changes, and group retreat experiences.

Treatments are offered in six airy pavilions with private steam rooms, showers, baths and outdoor meditation salas. With inspiring panoramic views, Amanpuri also has a twostorey glass-walled gym, Pilates studio and secluded hillside yoga and meditation sala.

Surrounded by idyllic serenity, Amanpuri has stood the test of time and continues to offer guests and visitors exceptional service, dining and spa offerings, but utmost, a sanctuary of peace away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
