The 2025 Lunar New Year has a hissing feeling!
On 29th January it is the Lunar New Year and in 2025 it will be the Year of the Snake, when Phuket transforms into a vibrant and lively hub of celebration. The streets, particularly in Phuket Old Town and areas with large Chinese communities, come alive with bright red lanterns, traditional decorations, and the sound of firecrackers. Dragon and lion dances are performed to ward off bad luck, accompanied by rhythmic drums and gongs. Local temples fill with worshippers making offerings for prosperity, while street markets buzz with activity, offering special foods and festive goods. The atmosphere is a blend of traditional Chinese customs with a tropical, relaxed island vibe, making it a truly unique celebration.
