The wallywhy 150 is a paradigm-shifting luxury yacht that condenses superyacht grandeur into a nimble, sub‑24 metre package

    By: Chris Johnson

Just arrived in Phuket, but unveiled in 2023 as the “little sister” to the groundbreaking wallywhy 200, the 150 punches far above its weight, from its bold styling to its generous interior. It offers infinite oceanic luxury traditionally reserved for much larger vessels.

    Exterior & Design

At first glance, the wallywhy 150 is futuristic – its towering pilothouse and sleek, inverted bow offer an uncompromising spaceship-on-water aesthetic. With an overall length of 23.99 m and a maximum beam of 6.78 m, she fits within the coveted 24 m regulation zone – allowing owners to bypass many superyacht restrictions while still delivering homage-paying volume and presence. The exterior is dominated by vast al fresco living zones: a sweeping sundeck complete with dining table, bar, open kitchen, grill station, and ample lounge space; all rivalling the outdoor footprint of a 40 m yacht. Below, the fluid transition between cockpit and saloon is facilitated by flush decking and continuous glass, inviting sea breezes and horizon views inside.

    Interior & Layout

Inside, the wallywhy 150 feels limitless. With a full‑beam saloon boasting 2.5 m of headroom – a height more common in 80 m yachts – its open-plan layout includes double-height glazing, a mezzanine lounge overlooking the dining area, and cleverly integrated indoor-outdoor flow. The master suite, located forward on the main deck, is a triumph of spatial design; its elevated bow position and wrap-around glazing create a breathtaking “amphitheatre of the sea” offering 270° viewing angles – an astonishing feature in a yacht of this size.

Below decks, accommodation is configured flexibly, either two VIP cabins or one VIP and a guest cabin, each with ensuite facilities and generous natural light through large hull windows. Crew quarters – typically two cabins – sit discreetly forward, maintaining a clear separation between guest spaces and yacht operations.

    Performance & Engineering

Under the skin, the wallywhy 150 is powered by triple Volvo Penta IPS pods – either the standard IPS1200 (900 hp each) or optional IPS1350 (1,000 hp). This setup propels the yacht to a top speed of 21 knots (or 23 knots with IPS1350), with cruising speeds around 18 – 20 knots and a range of approximately 370 – 390 nautical miles. Her semi‑planing hull ensures smooth performance and nimble handling, rivalling larger explorer-style yachts in comfort and sea-keeping.

She also integrates clever engineering touches: transparent hydrodynamic hull glazing posed a structural challenge that Wally-Ferretti Engineering overcame, delivering sweeping lines that flood the interior with light without compromising integrity.

    Lifestyle & Usability

Designed for the modern luxury owner, the wallywhy 150 transcends traditional category boundaries: part cruiser, part semi-explorer, part flybridge yacht – and redefines flexible, experiential yachting. Whether as a weekender, coastal cruiser, or statement vessel, she supports full toy setups – from jet skis to a 3.9 m tender, complete with direct swim-platform access and hydraulic boarding gates. Her open-concept layout encourages sociable gatherings: anchor at secluded bays, dive right in, dine alfresco in style, or watch the sunset from the mezzanine salon.

    Designer Vision & Market Position

Luca Bassani, Wally’s visionary founder and designer, and Stefano de Vivo, Managing Director, describe the Wallywhy series as “ahead of its time”, aiming to maximize immersion with water and sky while retaining superyacht qualities in a smaller footprint. With interior by Vallicelli Design Studio, naval architecture by Ferretti Group Engineering, and exterior styling by Wally, the yacht reflects international design excellence at its best.

In a class of its own, the wallywhy 150 challenges preconceived notions of luxury yachting. Offering vast volume, cinematic design, superyacht engineering and adventurous flexibility – all under the 24 metre mark – it delivers a rare fusion of lifestyle and performance. Whether sipping sundowners on the sundeck, reveling in panoramic Andaman sunrise views from the bow suite, or charting a course into undiscovered Phang Nga coves, owners and guests are treated to a holistic yachting odyssey. Wally’s thundering statement: greatness doesn’t require size.
