Every year, Thais gather around bodies of water to release beautifully constructed ‘baskets’ traditionally made of banana trees for Loy Krathong. ‘Loy’ means ‘to float’, whilst ‘Krathong’ is ‘basket’ or ‘boat’. So ‘Loy Krathong’ is ‘to float a basket’ and release your negative emotions whilst paying respect to the water spirits. This year on 27th November The Pavilions have a complimentary Loy Krathong event to learn and experience this ancient tradition. After learning the ways of Krathong building, there is an option for a special dinner for guests, to honour tradition as well as contribute to the conservation of the ocean and public waters. Immerse yourself in Thai culture at The Pavilions this year on 27th November 2023.
