Ancient Wisdom in the Sanctuary of the Sala

In the sophisticated silence of SALA Phuket’s Mai Khao Sanctuary, Saranrat Poit brings 20 years of Thai healing mastery to the SALA’s tranquil shore. Behind the resort’s Sino-Portuguese walls, Master Healer Saranrat Poti – known simply as ‘SARA’ – transforms ancient Thai wisdom into experiences that reach far beyond conventional spa treatments. With two decades of expertise threading through her fingertips, she unlocks the pathways to genuine restoration

    By: Mia James

    The Innovator’s Touch

Sara’s signature Sarika Healing Therapy represents her most profound innovation on ancient technique – a fusion of traditional Thai medicine with her own “Sarika stick massage”. What emerges feels both ancient and revolutionary: Thai stretching meets meridian pressure work, guided by tools that seem to know exactly where tension hides.

The 90-minute journey (THB 5,500++) allows Sara’s methods to work their quiet magic, whilst the extended 120-minute session (THB 7,500++) provides space for deeper transformation. Muscle aches dissolve, stiffness releases, and blocked energy finds new pathways. The result: it’s accelerated recovery that feels almost alchemical.

    Beyond the Body

Sara’s Emotional Release Massage ventures into territory most spa treatments fear to tread. Through gentle yet profound abdominal work, she addresses the energetic imbalances we carry in our core – literally. This 60-minute (THB 4,500++) or 90-minute (THB 6,500++) practice promotes chi flow whilst encouraging physical and emotional detoxification. It’s holistic healing that honours the intricate connections between mind, body, and spirit.

The Gua Sha Face Massage (50 minutes, THB 4,000++) elevates the ancient Chinese art through Sara’s skilled interpretation, one a sole 50 minute offering for all the benefits. Clear crystal quartz and Moringa oil – a miracle elixir for skin – work together to sculpt, lift, and revitalise. Fine lines smooth, puffiness recedes, and facial tension melts away, leaving behind a radiance that seems to glow from within.

    The Art of Energy Cultivation

Sara’s Qi Gong sessions (45 minutes, THB 3,500++) complete her healing repertoire. This 5,000 year old ancient discipline weaves intentional movement with breathwork and meditation, cultivating the vital energy the Chinese call ‘Qi’. Under Sara’s guidance, participants discover how harmony between mind, body, and spirit isn’t just an aspiration – it’s an achievable state, with practice.

    The Perfect Setting

SALA Phuket provides an ideal backdrop for Sara’s transformative work. The resort’s 63 pool villas offer 619 square metres of contemporary luxury, complete with private pools, outdoor showers, and the kind of privacy that allows true relaxation. Between sessions, guests can explore the lush grounds, practice yoga on the west coast beach at sunset, or savour Chef Tony’s exceptional cuisine – including the remarkable Braised Wagyu Short Rib from their farm-to-table menu.

Alternatively, if you’re looking for something a bit more casual, I couldn’t recommend more highly, sitting at a table on the sandy shore, and ordering a delicious bowl of authentic Asian noodles. Delicious, light, value for money is amazing, refreshing with flavours to cater to any taste, in the perfect setting for it: you just have to sit out there and give them a go.

The Sino-Portuguese architecture creates pockets of tranquillity throughout the property, whilst the tree-lined paths and natural privacy walls ensure each villa feels like its own sanctuary. Twenty minutes from the airport yet worlds away from urban chaos, SALA Phuket understands that healing begins with the environment.

    A Limited Invitation

Sara’s residency runs throughout October 2025, offering a rare opportunity to experience Thai traditional medicine at its finest. Her methods represent more than spa treatments – they’re pathways to understanding how ancient wisdom can address modern challenges.

Whether seeking physical restoration, emotional release, or simply the profound peace that comes from expert healing hands, Sara’s October residency promises experiences that linger long after checkout.
